Yoga Therapy

A gentle, personalized path toward emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.

Yoga therapy is a one-on-one, clinically informed approach that combines therapeutic movement, breathwork, somatic practices, and Christian mindfulness to support whole-person wellness. Unlike a traditional yoga class, yoga therapy is deeply customized to your story, your nervous system, and your goals.

At Graceful Balance Wellness, yoga therapy sessions provide a safe, compassionate environment where you can move at your own pace, reconnect with your body, release stored tension, and cultivate peace in the presence of God.

If you’ve been longing for healing that honors your mind, body, and spirit, yoga therapy can help you find your way back to grounding, clarity, and rest.

Yoga therapy is the therapeutic application of yoga postures, breathing techniques, and somatic tools to address emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. It is grounded in both wisdom and modern science, recognizing that spiritual health, emotional health and physical health are inseparable.

Unlike a typical yoga class, where instruction is taught to a group, yoga therapy is fully individualized. Your practitioner works with you privately to understand your specific concerns, limitations, and goals. Sessions may include:

  • Gentle stretching and restorative movement
  • Breathwork to calm the nervous system
  • Trauma-sensitive body awareness practices
  • Guided mindfulness or Christian meditation
  • Hands-on or prop-supported alignment
  • Somatic grounding techniques
  • Education on stress and the nervous system
  • Scripture reflection or prayer

Yoga therapy meets you exactly where you are—whether you’re flexible or stiff, experienced or brand new, anxious or uncertain.

What Is Yoga Therapy?

The body holds experiences long after the mind has moved on. Stress, fear, trauma, and chronic overwhelm often show up as:

  • tight shoulders
  • shallow breathing
  • chronic fatigue
  • trouble resting or sleeping
  • muscle tension
  • difficulty regulating emotions
  • feeling disconnected from your body
  • moments of numbness or overwhelm
  • irritability
  • chronic stress responses

Why Yoga Therapy Works:

Yoga therapy helps unwind these patterns by addressing the physiological root of emotional distress.

  • It calms the nervous system
By slowly guiding the body out of fight-or-flight and into a state of safety.

  • It reconnects body and mind
Helping you recognize your body’s signals and respond with compassion rather than fear.

  • It integrates movement with breath
Creating pathways for emotional release and grounding.

  • It supports trauma healing
Somatic practices allow the body to process unresolved tension safely.

  • It honors the spiritual components of healing
You’ll have the option to integrate Scripture, Christian meditation, and prayer to help anchor your heart in truth.

Yoga therapy is one of the most powerful ways to heal the mind through the body—and the body through the mind—while staying deeply connected to God.

At Graceful Balance Wellness, we honor the belief that God designed your nervous system with the ability to heal. Our approach to yoga therapy is rooted in:

✔️ Trauma-Informed Care
You will be invited—not pushed.
You remain in control of your movement, your pace, and your comfort level.

✔️ Christian Mindfulness & Scripture
As desired, sessions may include:
Christian meditation
Breath prayers
Reflection on Scripture
Gentle spiritual grounding

Everything we offer aligns with biblical values and is designed to help you feel safe, seen, and supported.

✔️ Somatic Awareness
Our practitioners help you understand how anxiety, trauma, and stress show up in the body—and how movement and breath can bring relief.

✔️ Whole-Person Healing
We believe emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness are woven together.
Yoga therapy integrates all three.
